2015 has come and gone in a flash and as 2016 approaches we start hearing about New Years resolution and what we want to accomplish for the new year. While I am a firm believer that every second we live is new and gives us a chance to start over, I think the new year is a good mile marker to begin a transformation in our lives. I started 2015 with some particular goals in mind that spanned from my personal life, career, and In Summa Vigilia. While I feel that I worked hard towards achieving these goals, I looked back and had to be honest with myself... I feel like I half-assed it at times. That is not acceptible and I DO NOT want to do that anymore. I felt disappointed and felt cheated because the only thoughts that kept coming into my head were, "what more could you have accomplished??"
"Sacrifice short term pleasure for long term gain."
This 2016 will be the year of the hustle. The year were I sacrifice short term pleasures for long term gain, and the year where I minimize my distractions. I feel that we would be able to achieve so much more in our lives, families, careers, hobbies, passions, etc., if we only focused. I know it's easier said then done and as a professional procrastinator in college I might be contradicting myslef. But when you sit and think about it we are thrown many "things" our way on the daily, from the media, through everything we see on the news, what we see through sports, advertising, yet it makes me wonder what we could achieve if we didn't obsess or prioritize these distractions. I Understand that we all get consumed with different distractions, (I'm guilty of sports, mainly soccer), but what I am promoting is the cosciunoscess that we need to focus on ourselves and what needs to be done to make our lives better first, and then the rest can follow.
Make this the year of the Hustle!
Make this the year of the hustle, where you set a goal and work like a mad man to achieve it. Lets get to the point where we would rather DVR the big game and say no to that night out on the town because what we want to accomplish is so engrained in us, that nothing will stop you from achieving it. Remember, sacrifice short term pleasure for long term gain. Change your mindset and change your life!
Stay Blessed, wide awake, and always ask why!
