I am currently on the road to Sacramento and since I have decided to take a break from driving I thought I'd share some thoughts I've had on the Christmas holidays. Lets not forget the real reason why we have this and every other holiday, to be with family/friends and make memories that will last a lifetime. Life is too short to be mad and focus on the negative during these times and some of my most cherished memories of Christmas are with my family and my dad, who passed away in 2012. It's not the presents I received from my parents that I cherish, (most of which I don't even remember), it's the memories and good times we spent together.
Dont let let the consumerist, media-manipulating machine fool you into thinking that it's all about presents and stress that comes along with it.
I keep hearing and reading about how Jesus is being taken out of the holiday, and how the opposite side keeps saying that this was born out of a pagan tradition aka winter solstice. Regardless of who is right and wrong, people have the right to celebrate what they want, who they want, and how they want. Just let people be and enjoy the fact that we are alive at a time such as this.
So let's celebrate!
...the birth of Jesus, the Pagan traditions, or just the fact that you are alive and well! Look at the bright side of life and it'll be all good.
Stay Blessed, wide awake, and always ask why!
