Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Afterlife

This book takes us in a journey of a near-death experience that a well and respected neurosurgeon, Dr. Eben Alexander experienced first hand during an induced comma due to a severe case of meningitis, which is a deadly bacterial infection of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.
Dr. Alexander states that his near death experience proves that consciousness is independent of the brain. He asserts that it is scientifically impossible for the brain to experience consciousness or feeling while being in the state that he was.
In the book he describes that death is simply nothing more than a transition, and what awaits us is a place of perfect splendor, peace and beautiful landscapes were we’d meet relatives that have passed on. This is not your typical book about heaven. Dr. Alexander does not come from a religious standpoint, as most books about heaven tend to do, he simply describes his experience as a scientist who had a supernatural experience that changed his life in a meaningful way.  He encourages the reader not to look at death as a horrible thing, but instead to simply see it as a transition to a better place full of splendor and beauty.
